Disco Ball Pumpkin DIY

Disco ball pumpkin

Disco balls are all the rage right now and I have to admit that I’m a big fan of this trend. I immediately started wondering how I could incorporate a disco ball into my fall decor and I decided to make a pumpkin disco ball. It’s a great way to spice up the season and a sure way to delight anyone who sees it.

This DIY is inspired by one of my favorite artists, Sari Shryack, from Not Sorry Art. She has a phenomenal disco ball art series that features all different colors of disco balls, so go check it out if you’re a disco ball fan.

If you’re wondering how to create your own disco pumpkin, keep reading! I’ll be sharing all of the materials and techniques that I used to create a one-of-a-kind jack-o-lantern.

This post is all about making a disco ball pumpkin.

Materials:

Step 1. Cut Your Mosaic Tiles

Take your mirror tile strips and cut them into smaller pieces. I started off by cutting them about 2 tiles wide so that I could wrap them around the curved parts of the pumpkin.

2. Place Mosaic Tiles

Being careful to not cut your fingers, place the small tile strips on your pumpkin. I started from the top and worked my way down to the bottom, but I didn’t fill in the bottom completely. Please note: the tiles are made of glass, so they can be a little tricky to work with if you’re not careful. beginning disco pumpkin

3. Work Around Pumpkin

Continue working your way around the pumpkin with the strips. It’s a little bit like tetris. It’s okay if there’s a few gaps, too! It doesn’t need to be perfect. partially finished pumpkin

I started running out of tiles in the end, so I didn’t cover the bottom of my pumpkin completely. I figured it didn’t matter since you can’t see the bottom of the pumpkin, but if it bothers you, make sure to purchase 2 packs of tile instead of just one.

5. Display Your Disco Pumpkin

Display your disco ball pumpkin somewhere festive! One word of caution – I’m not sure how well the mosaic tiles will hold up outdoors. I would suggest keeping your pumpkin indoors if you want it to last longer.

I have to admit – I’m obsessed with how this came out! I’m starting to wonder what else I could make into a disco ball. Or maybe I need a whole collection of disco ball pumpkins?
