Christmas is the perfect time to experiment with your nail look and get creative. There are so many cute designs that can be done with just a few tools. Candy canes are festive, fun, and actually fairly easy to draw, so they make a great design for the holidays.
I have really short, natural nails, so I don’t necessarily have a ton of real estate on my nails. However, this candy cane nail tutorial is so easy that you don’t need to have super long nails for it to turn out cute.

Candy Cane Nail Art
Materials
- Small dotting tool
- Olive and June polish in BEB (a soft neutral)
- Olive and June polish in CV (a vibrant red)
- Olive and June polish in HD (a bright white)
- Topcoat
- Paint each of your nails with a translucent base color that is similar to your natural nail. I used Olive and June’s BEB for my base coat because I like that it covers up some of the imperfections of my nails with a subtle, natural color.
- Using your white polish, create the shape of small candy canes by using the small dotting tool and leaving space in between all of your dots.
- Using the red polish and your dotting tool, fill in the blanks of the candy canes with red dots.
- Let your layers dry fully and then apply a topcoat.
That’s it! The dots do take some practice to get more uniform (and you can probably tell that I messed up a few times) but everything improves with practice. Have fun and happy holidays!
