Green Leopard Print Nails Tutorial

I saw the cutest leopard print nails the other day and I thought I would attempt to re-create them with my green nail theme for the month of March. If you’re looking for a design that is a little more contemporary and exciting, this might be the perfect tutorial for you! This green leopard print nail tutorial is super simple and fast.

Before the pandemic, my friends and I used to go to a St. Patrick’s Day bar crawl in San Diego. It was so much fun getting to go to all of the different bars and experience the ambiance of the Gaslamp district. My St. Patty’s Day celebrations have looked a lot different the past two years, but I’m hopeful that we will actually get an opportunity to celebrate this year.

For this tutorial, I recommend using a darker green polish and a gold polish. Alternatively, you could use a brighter, neon green polish if you want something more flashy. I used a cheaper polish that I found at CVS, but you could easily use whatever you have on hand. All you really need for this tutorial is a dotting tool and a little bit of creativity.

  1. Paint your thumb, pinky, and pointer finger with a green polish. Apply one more coat.
  2. Paint your ring and middle finger a clear neutral/nude base color. Let dry thoroughly before moving to next step.
  3. Using a dotting tool, start creating the outline of your leopard spots with the green color (on your ring and middle finger). I like to use a really delicate touch and make them random around the nail. Be mindful of spacing so it doesn’t look too crowded.
  4. Clean your dotting tool and pick up some gold polish. Place your gold dots towards the center of your “spots.” Add additional small spots as desired.

  5. Continue using the gold polish with the dotting tool and add spots to your green pointer finger.
  6. Clean up any excess polish that remains.
  7. Apply your top coat and admire your mani!

Products I used:

For this design, I used a more affordable green and gold polish from Poparazzi nail polish because I typically don’t wear a lot of green polish. Olive and June’s BEB shade is my favorite for transparent nail designs.

If you don’t want to purchase a set of dotting tools, you can always take a toothpick and gently file down the tip. It’s not reusable, but it works in a pinch.

If you’re using any extra brushes or tools, always make sure to clean them with some nail polish remover so that they don’t get crusty or damaged from the polish.
