Welcome to Orange Grove Home!
Hi there! My name is Emily and I’m so excited to share my home with you. In November of 2021, my fiancé and I moved into our 1944 California Ranch home. As a native Kansan, you can imagine my surprise when we suddenly had access to both an orange and a lemon tree in our front yard.
We live in San Dimas, which is a small southern California town roughly 30 miles east of Los Angeles. San Dimas has a rich history as a former agricultural hub and prolific citrus producer. In fact, from roughly 1900 to 1920, San Dimas was described as the “Crown of the Citrus Belt” and allegedly housed a massive lemon packing house.
Modern San Dimas does not quite have the citrus reputation that it used to, but we are fortunate enough to reap the benefits of the ideal soil and weather for fresh citrus fruits. Thus, Orange Grove Home was born! I’m excited to bring you ideas that help enhance your life. Whether you are looking for fresh home decor, gift ideas, fun recipes, or DIY tips, you won’t be disappointed.
A little bit about me: while I was born and raised in the midwest, I truly love California and all it has to offer. My inspiration comes from a lot of different places and I’ve dabbled in a LOT of crafts. You might be seeing: nail art design tutorials, macrame patterns, crochet designs, knitting patterns, recipes, and decor tips. I’m an avid DIY-er and I like to believe that if it’s worth trying, it’s worth sharing. I want everyone to feel like they can attempt a new project, even if it feels a little outside of their comfort level or skill set.
One of my favorite things about moving is the opportunity to truly create a space that is all your own. As someone who has lived in apartments for almost my entire adult life, it’s exciting to be able to change things up. Whether it’s changing our bedroom wall color or adding a new garden bed, I’m hopeful that I will be able to share all of the tips and tricks along the way. I’m also excited to see how the city changes and grows along with us. San Dimas always seemed like it was a bit of a “sleepy” little town to me, but with the expansion of the gold line metro, I know it has a lot more to offer. Soon enough, we might be getting some new restaurants or bars to try!
